Gas Pumps
Since the mid- to late-1980’s, pay-at-the-pump strategies have evolved from self-service cash and credit card transactions to interactive merchandising. Early on, this efficient and customer-friendly approach helped shorten lines at the pump, but it also had an effect on revenue generated within the retail fuel and convenience store. In response to this marketing issue, today’s fuel dispensing equipment includes features such as advertising message displays, coupons that promote car wash services or items within the store, and soon, we can expect to see internet-based services such as location technology and map printing.
These developments have obviously placed greater demands on the gas pump’s thermal receipt printer. High-speed printing, small form-factor, and graphics capability are all features that pump designers expect from thermal printers. However, reliability remains the most important performance characteristic. In this price competitive market, the printer often costs less than a single field service call, and that’s just not good business.
Winspu’s thermal printer mechanisms and thermal printer modules, designed to reduce paper jam, prevent operator error and protect the paper, print head, and electronic components from damage caused by moisture and temperatures found in extreme environments, such as used for gas pump receipt printers.
